Hardfloor Or Carpet - Let The Battle Begin

This is a though question to answer because each one has it's own advantages, disadvantages and unique qualities. In this article I'll try to be impartial and explain all of them so you can make a choice more easy. There are several important categories which we can compare both - looks, price, comfort, durability, maintenance and cleaning. As much as I try to stay impartial I have my own preferences, therefore I apologize in advance if I try to influence in any way.

Without further delay we'll start with the first category which is beauty. This is probably the most difficult one because all people have different taste about what is beautiful. Most hard-floorings are made form wood and bring a feeling of comfort and relaxation, because it is proven one feels more relaxed when closer to nature. On the other hand many carpets are handmade from natural fibers and painted with natural dyes. Guess this one is a draw, moving on to the next category - price.

Again a disputed subject because there are hardwood floors made form rare and expensive trees which can cost a little fortune, but the same applies for the genuine antique hand made Oriental carpets and rugs. But I have seen a small rug which costs as much as my entire house, therefore this one is in favor of carpets. Comfort is the next category we're going to analyze, and I think there is no need to discuss it at all. There is nothing like lying on your carpet watching TV with your loved one, point to carpets.

As for the durability it is a little tough, because if you take proper care for your high quality carpet it can last for years. And here we have the hardwood floor which can be refinished up to ten times in interval of ten years. Simple math tells us this one goes to the hard-flooring.
